Diagnostic Ultrasound

Ultrasound

X-ray is used to visualize the bones. X-ray uses radiation to make the images.

Diagnostic ultrasound is used to visualize everything else (organs, blood flow, muscles, tendons, ligaments, nerves). Ultrasound uses sound waves, not radiation, to make the images.

Prior to becoming a Chiropractor Dr. Shane Lokken worked at Penrose Hospital as a Cardiac Sonographer in the cardiology department. While in ultrasound school Dr Shane was trained in multiple different modalities and now uses it to assess the muscles, ligaments, and tendons for damage.

Dr Shane uses the state of the art POCUS- Point Of Care Ultra Sound system to evaluate the soft tissue in the office.
